Position Description & Requirements
The role of the Electrical Engineer is to improve the equipment operations. This role will require the person to work with a range input and outputs, check sensors and program plc’s to improve the machines functions.
- Create and develop programs that will support process improvements to safely meet Cardinal Operations.
- Communicate with Operations & Maintenance and other supporting departments. Where a fault is identified, activate a workaround or make temporary modifications to PLC code to allow the operation to continue.
- Work with the Automation Control team to diagnose and deploy the required code fixes.
- Provide front line issues investigation of live production control systems (hardware and software) including the use of relevant diagnostic tools such as Profibus / Can Bus networks, Bar Code Readers.
- Analyze data and find solutions to improve performance.
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Perform related duties as assigned by Maintenance Manager.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Education and/or Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
- Computer Engineering combined with industrial experience may substitute for the Electrical Engineering degree.
- Mechatronics Engineering degree with industrial experience may substitute for Electrical Engineering degree.
- Good technical & experienced hands-on ability relating to automation hardware and software.
- Experience with industrial PLC systems, HMI systems or distributed control systems, or relevant laboratory education A good understanding of DC motor controls.
- Understanding of Control System Communication Protocols.
- Good technical ability relating to automation hardware and software.
- Sound analytical skills with an eye for detail; good problem-solving ability and a practical approach.
- Good computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
Available Shifts & Pay
- 1st Shift
- Electrical Engineer pay is based on experience.
